White water raft, rock climb, and jam out to live music all Labor Day weekend long.
It’s hard to believe that fall is right around the corner! This year has seemed to pass by quicker than most, but this just means that it’s almost time for the best season of all: holiday season. The season kicks off with Labor Day on Monday, September 6th, and this year, you can celebrate at the U.S. National White Water Center here in Charlotte.
This year, the festival runs from September 4th to September 5th and tickets are free! From 8am to 7pm, celebrate the start of autumn with a ton of pre-planned activities.
Saturday kicks off with an epic 8am Labor Day Trail Race, where participants can choose between a 5k or 15k trail that winds through the forest lining the Catawaba River. At 9am, grab your activity pass and choose your adventure from one of White Water’s 30 different activities. From higher thrills like zip lining and white water rafting, to a leisurely stroll through the forest to experience an immersive art installation by artist, Meredith Connelly, whose work focuses on light and nature. Participate in group yoga or experience not one but two types of rock climbing, one traditional, and one that utilizes falling into a deep-water pool.
After you’ve had a day of adventure, drinking, and eating, head over to the stage at 7pm to enjoy River Jam, the live music concert that has been running throughout the summer. Saturday, you’ll get to hear Dead Horses, a folk duo you won’t want to miss.
Sunday starts off at 9am and if there’s any activities you missed the day before, here’s your chance. Today there’s a double concert, with Elonzo Wesley, part string band and part solo artist, performing at 6pm and Keller & The Keels, a rock band, performing at 8pm to end the weekend.
Oh, and we almost forgot to mention, there will also be fireworks. Check out this free event on Labor Day Weekend from September 4th to September 5th. See you there!
