Good news, Charlotte, because the city’s annual ‘I Heart Rail Trail’ event is back Friday, February 3rd, with six amazing new art installations by local artists.
At 6:30pm, you can head over to their Flip the Switch event at the Pavilion to kick off the event and/or head to the gallery wall from 6-9pm. Then, walk from one side of the Rail Trail to the other and feast your eyes on 6 new immersive art installations by local artists. Plus, don’t forget, there will be live music from 6-8pm at Atherton every Thursday through Saturday. Each installation will be turned on between dusk to 11pm.
Each year, different local artists are tapped to create innovative and immersive pieces, and this year, some call back to the city’s history and others highlight new art techniques.
Locally-based Studio Dickey is creating an art installation called Gold Rush that calls back to Charlotte’s history in the Gold Rush era as well as the fact that it’s a banking city, while Sir Will’s Lighted Cube installation picks up on Southern Imagery that allows the visitor to become part of the artwork itself. A full list of the six amazing, unique artists and their work is available on the site, if you want a sneak preview before you head over.
