Burrata has kind of become the star of cheeses this summer. If you haven’t already seen tons of recipes on your socials shining a light on this luxurious, yet simple ingredient, then we’re convinced you’re not following the right food accounts. Either way, burrata is having a bit of a moment, and so that’s why we’re really excited to see that Figo36, Charlotte’s newest Italian restaurant taking over where Orto used to be (it closed last December), has a burrata bar, among other amazing dishes.
What is Burrata?
Burrata, the cheese that hails from Italy, has an outer shell that is similar in texture and firmness to Mozzarella. When opened, the creamier, decadent cheese oozes out similar to the center of a Chocolate Lava cake. Spread it on ham, over fresh greens, or crusty toast, and you’ve got yourself a perfect starter.
Figo36’s burrata bar consists of fresh, seasonal ingredients chosen by the chefs to pair with their bufala mozzarella, and at only 8 per person. For example, this week’s specials are chive oil with garlic confit, lemon tomato marmalade, and a pomegranate reduction with fresh basil and sumac-merlot salt.
Aside from the burrata, they’re also doing fresh pastas that change weekly (long, short, and stuffed versions will rotate weekly), and pizzas with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Plus, they’ve got a selection of hand-crafted cocktails to pair with your meal. We’ve already got our table booked, do you?
Their opening hours are on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 pm to 11 pm and Thursday through Saturday 4 pm to 12 am.
