If you’ve been enjoying South End’s Camden Commons this year, then you may be sad to hear that this Sunday, June 26th, we’ll see the last of Camden Commons in South End. If you aren’t sure what that is, well, it’s essentially a block party where Camden St. is closed off and the street becomes an “outdoor living room” perfect for kids, pets, and adults alike.
Bring the family over to enjoy games, food, unique local vendors, and more. A tradition that began in 2019 after a coalition of South End, Wilmore, and Dilworth neighbors approached the city of Charlotte to advocate for safer pedestrian walkways and suggest community events on the weekends. Thus, Camden Commons was born. From 7am-7pm, no vehicles are allowed and the block is closed off to allow for a set up of food trucks, vendors, and craftsman set up shop.
There’s plenty of do, from sitting and relaxing on the couch with a board game or book to dancing along to the DJ, to enjoying the unique set ups like dog adoptions, DIY floral bouquet stations, chalk, giant puzzles, and more. There are also a ton of food and drinks stations along Camden you can enjoy, like Sabor Latin Street Grill, Living Kitchen, Pepperbox Doughnuts, Not Just Coffee, and plenty more.
The party lasts from 11am all the way to 5pm. We’ll see you there
