The Chicago-based eatery, Brown Bag Seafood, is making waves in Charlotte with two new eateries, located in South End and Uptown. The concept is fairly straight forward, but exciting nonetheless: Get fresh, hot-off-the-grill-seafood without the price point of an expensive meal in a variety of ways.
There’s a couple of reasons we’re so excited about seeing more of this fast casual eatery in Charlotte. This summer, we were excited to see the launch of Drift on Lake Wylie, a new waterfront seafood restaurant that had a marvelous opening weekend and has been doing great ever since. While dishes like Stuffed NC Mountain Trout and Pan Seared Scallops sound excellent, there are some days where you just don’t want to pay more than $30 a plate for quality, fresh seafood. We also feel like there’s, sometimes, a lack of fresh healthy options in Charlotte, so it’s always exciting to see more and new ways to eat.
Their menu is pretty extensive and dishes are given in a “brown bag” style, hence the name, in convenient to-go platters that are topped high with protein and sides. Anything from Crispy Cod to Grilled Salmon and even their Daily Catch, which is always changing. Pair that with sides like Tots, Sesame Broccoli Salad, and chowder. They’re also doing tacos and Lobster Rolls for a heartier classic dish. Not to mention, there’s also chicken, vegetarian, and vegan options.
Both of the restaurant will have indoor and outdoor seating, and are currently under construction, but we’ll keep you updated about when they might be opening.
