2022 calls for more thoughtful approaches to shopping.
Thinking of cutting down your carbon footprint in 2022? One place to start is with thrifting! Each year, the world consumes 80 billion new pieces of clothing, around 400% more than we were consuming two decades ago. With fast fashion becoming even faster thanks to social media, there are ways to combat the rise while also getting some really cute treasures out of it. Whether you thrift for the environment, the thrill of the hunt, or your love of fashion, Charlotte has got you covered with these 5 thrift stores.
1. The Rat’s Nest

One look at Rat’s Nest and you know you’re in for a great day of bargain shopping. If their exterior is anything like their interior, there’s bound to be some treasures hidden inside, and all at a relatively reasonable price. Rat’s Nest is a vintage store that curates their findings–usually leaning towards a western or 70s-style over any other style. Go here if you’re a fan of unique cowboy boots, cool graphic tees, or anything fringe.
Where: 442 E 36th St, Charlotte, NC 28205
2. Carolina Value Village
Value Village is a thrift chain that you’ve probably heard of, but it’s a great spot to get some deals on homeware. While the idea of thrifted homeware might want to send you running to the hills, there are ton of great deals you can find when it comes to cookware, kitchenware, and other home utilities, you just may have to do a little heavy duty cleaning. Aside from aisles full of kitchenware, there’s also racks and racks of cheap clothes. This is a place you’ll have to stay a while and dig but we suggest giving it a shot–you never know what you may find. We’d recommend the one on South Blvd. the most!
Where: 6300 South Blvd #300, Charlotte, NC 28217
3. Bargain Hunters Thrift Store
We tried to include some of the smaller thrift stores in the city (we feel like you can score the best deals), which is why Bargain Hunters has made its way onto our list. They often have big deals like their 50% off everything on January 1st, but even on their normal days, you can find a whole range of things from shoes, purses, to clothing, and some really unique homeware and goods.
Where: 7020 Albemarle Rd, Charlotte, NC 28227
4. Clothes Mentor
If you’re in the market for second-hand designer goods, then you’ll want to make a visit to Clothes Mentor. Not only can you shop here, but you can also sell your old clothes which creates a more sustainable model for distributing clothing. You can stop in shop or purchase online, where they have clothing listed by brand and price. Make sure to visit the Arboretum location.
Where: 8120 Providence Rd #500, Charlotte, NC 28277
5. Hidden Treasures Thrift and Consignment
Come to Hidden Treasures Thrift with an open mind, lots of time, and no expectations. We think that those who are lovers of the hunt will find this spot to be unpretentious and the perfect place to score an unbelievable good deal. You can score some great deals on furniture for the house, and they even have a delivery truck that can help take it from the shop to your house. Don’t forget to say hi to the cute furry friend who hangs out by the door.
