After a long wait, the highly anticipated urban oasis we all need is finally here. Slated to open in summer 2021, The Royal Tot has had quite the adventurous journey through Charlotte. We wrote about the fun, two-story bar coming to the city back in July, singing its praises by discussing its rum-forward cocktails, its two-story rooftop, and its menu filled with Caribbean-themed plates.
Details of the bar were still shrouded in mystery, and it was by the fall that the Royal Tot had set up a temporary pop-up called Rumway Cove inside the Refuge hotel in Plaza Midwood. Following this tropical little hideaway, the winter saw the two-story venue of The Royal Tot become a festive, tiki-themed Christmas Bar, Sippin’ Santa, decorated with multi-colored string lights and garland in a venue that housed wild tiki drinks inside Santa-themed ceramic.
After a few detours, The Royal Tot has finally docked in Belmont, offering a fun urban oasis for all of Queen City to try. Their cocktails are all made perfectly the way a tiki drink should be made–rum, juice, cordials and syrups, and a special garnish whether it be cinnamon, flowers, citrus, or even fire. On their menu, they’ve got drinks with names that add to the theme of the place–try their Sally Sells Seashells (served in a conch shell cup) or their Barrel of Monkeys. They’ve also got classic rum drinks like Mai Tais and cocktails to share, like their Volcano Bowl that serves 2-3 people.
They’ve also got a food menu with dinner options like their Kona Coffee Pork Shoulder and their Ginger Soy Salmon or try a Fried Rice or Poke Bowl.
Their hours are 5pm-11pm on Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 5pm-1am on Friday and Saturday, and closed Monday and Tuesday. You can make a reservation on their website here.
