Bon Appétit’s ‘Top 10 New Restaurants in America’ list was just released and we re so excited to hear the news that Supperland was awarded a spot, just after they were named in the same magazines ‘Top 50 Restaurants in America’ list. Needless to say, this is an amazing year for Supperland, and maybe Charlotte will be the next up and coming foodie destination that can compete with the nation’s top contenders like LA and NYC.
“To have this kind of recognition almost doesn’t feel real. We know we’ve built something really special here at Supperland—in terms of the service, the feel of the place and the unusual ‘southern steakhouse meets church potluck’ concept—but this is an awing accomplishment for our team,” says Owner Jeff Tonidandel, who has built this amazing restaurant alongside his wife and business partner, Jamie Brown, with Chris Rogienski as Supperland’s executive chef.
Below is Supperland’s segment in the Bon Appétit article.
This is only the second time in the list’s history that a North Carolina-based restaurant has made it on the Top 10 List, following Kindred, owned by Joe and Katy Kindred in Davidson.
The team is both excited and nervous for what this recognition will bring for the future of Supperland, a restaurant that was actually built out of the COVID pandemic and has thrived. “This kind of recognition could make a team feel nervous about losing what they’ve built, or it could make them feel pressure that the next place will never live up to what’s been accomplished. But we take a different approach,” says Owner, Jamie Brown, excited for what the future will hold for the restaurant and their upcoming plans.
So what’s next? Supperland will likely see a ton of new foodies excited to give this place a try and the Jamie and Jeff’s next restaurant project is renovating a 1915 church in the Dilworth/Southend neighborhood which will become a Steak & Surf concept called Leluia Hall. We can hardly wait!
