Your Farms Your Table Restaurant Group has a story to tell, and it’s soon to be served on a plate in West Charlotte.
Charlotte’s getting a new farm-to-table concept restaurant on January 27th, owned by Chef Sam Diminich, who started the restaurant group during the height of the pandemic after losing his job, among the other 11 billion hospitality industry workers in the states. The pandemic’s impact on the industry still lingers, and will for some time, and Diminich thought ahead to how that would impact local farming communities. His goal? To create a community-wide conversation about what we eat and who provides it. His first step was to learn the stories behind the people who provide the community with food by going directly to the source, speaking with local farmers, and buying straight from them. His next step? That’s where Restaurant Constance comes in.
“It’s time Charlotte looked at food, dining and what our area has to offer just a little bit differently,”said Diminich in a recent press release. “Through the dining experience at Restaurant Constance, we’ll be amplifying the voice sand all-important stories of our local farmers and suppliers, and offering a place to create connection through the one thing we can all still agree on in this world — good food.”
Restaurant Constance, named after his eldest daughter and meaning “steadfast,” will feature a menu that rotates seasonally and with local ingredients, a raw bar, and will feature an extensive non-alcoholic drink menu, a move that’s likely a call back to Diminich’s incredibly inspirational story of his hard work and journey to a sober lifestyle.
Highlights from the opening menu include Short Ribs with Sweet Potato Fondue, Tuna Crudo, Oysters on the Half Shell, Kale and Napa salad, and Marinated Scallops.
The restaurant, described as coastal farm house, is a “fully transformed space is next door to the existing Your Farms Your Table space at The City Kitch and features custom-built seating for 38, a chef’s table, and a projector showing videos of featured farmers and suppliers.”
Their opening day is January 27th and their hours are 5-10 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday (closed Sunday-Monday). Reservations are available at restaurantconstanceclt.com.
