Charlotte is absolutely booming. With tons of new restaurants and bars that recently opened in the spring and many more awesome locations slated for summer and fall, Charlotte’s about to get a whole lot of new places. Will Charlotte become the nation’s next foodie town? Check out these newcomers and decide for yourself.
1. Runaway
A new speakeasy-style cocktail bar heading to Charlotte’s Wesley Heights neighborhood. Indulge in whisky and wine options as well as special cocktails alongside small plates. This art deco cocktail bar is hoping to open in Fall.
2. Boxcar
A neighborhood style pub with all day specials on food and beer and tons of TVs for sports viewing.
3. Azul Tacos and Beer
Azul Tacos and Beer, also opening up in Wesley Heights, will be an authentic street style spot. We’re anticipating great food and drink deals, Taco Tuesdays, and lots of great beer.
4. Restaurant Constance
Known as a “restaurant cultivating connections and celebrating local food systems,” Restaurant Constance will be a farm to table concept that’s looking to open in the Fall.
5. Velvet Taco
A fun and colorful spot that’s recently opened in a new spot. Expect funky tacos in international flavors like tikka chicken and Crispy BBQ Chicken. There’s also specialty flavors of the month every month so we’d recommend checking out their website every month for unique and limited time flavors.
6. Biblio
From the minds of Counter Charlotte, a musically paired tasting menu spot is Biblio, a new tapas restaurant that’s said to have 500 wines. Looking to open later this summer.
7. 220c Banh Mi and Coffee
The spot formerly known as Deep Sea Seafood Market has gotten a new spot. Serving up Vietnamese coffee and banh mi sandwiches, this family-owned spot has just opened. Try banh mi sandwiches like grilled pork or cold cut, plus there’s many sweet drinks as well.
8. Amelie’s French Bakery
Amelie’s French Bakery has got a gorgeous new space in NoDa at 136 E. 36th Street after their unfortunate closing early on. Head here for delicious espresso, handcrafted lunch sandwiches, and delicious French pastries. Don’t leave without some macarons for a full experience.
9. Arbol Eatery
A healthy eatery in Uptown that opened on June 1st. Head to this grab-and-go concept for coffee, healthy snacks, sandwiches, and sweet pastries.
10. Bazal Gallery & Nightclub
Their grand opening is happening June 25th, so you won’t want to miss this amazing concept that’s about to give Charlotte a little bit of a creative edge (though we would argue Charlotte is already a super creative city). That’s why we’re really excited to see Bazal as it’s a hybrid spot–part art gallery, part nightclub. The clientele is likely to be very interesting so come here for a little art and people watching, networking, and dancing.
11. Seemingly Overzealous
A brand new ice cream shop: Meet Seemingly Overzealous, the non-dairy ice cream brainchild of Garrett Tichy & Jess Berresse opening in Camp North End. Slated for the summer, Seemingly Overzealous will be in the Keswick district with a rotating menu of flavors like blood orange carrot ginger and peanut butter and jelly.
12. The Salty Donut
The popular Miami donut shop is heading to Charlotte’s South End with delicious donuts and coffee that you’ll definitely want to try. Their flagship store has flavors like Guava Cheese, Hazelnut Chocolate, and Salted Brown Butter, so we’re excited to see which flavors will be available in Charlotte.
13. Burial Beer
Asheville favorite brewery has recently opened in Charlotte with a beautiful new brewery that’s dark, colorful, and serving up expertly crafted beer.
