All Covid-19 restrictions currently set in place will be lifted by June 1st!
We’re seeing an easing of restrictions this May, but there’s still a few things to keep in mind. On April 28th, Governor Roy Cooper answered a few of the state’s most common questions and announced the new rules.
Today, Gov. Cooper issued an Executive Order outlining safety restrictions for the month of May. Starting this Friday, masks will no longer be required outside and gathering capacity limits will increase to 100 people indoors and 200 people outdoors.https://t.co/k0Wf0eMclD pic.twitter.com/LR3CEXNnXh

One of the main takeaways from his announcement was the issue on mass gatherings. That includes events like funerals, parties, and weddings. The number has been raised from 5o t0 100 for indoor gatherings and 100 to 200 for outdoor gatherings. The other big takeaway has to do with the masks. Governor Cooper announced a new mask mandate, likely in reaction to the latest announcement by the CDC. While the CDC stated that fully vaccinated people no longer have to wear masks outdoors, Cooper has extended this in that no one in North Carolina is required to wear a mask outdoors anymore. They’re still highly recommended when it comes to crowded, large outdoor gatherings.
As of now, restaurant capacity will stay the same at 75% indoors and bars at 50%, but this will be lifted come June.
