From farm-to-table to world-to-table.
We’re really excited for this brand new restaurant hitting Charlotte this week! The Mariposa is taking over the space where Halcyon used to be, with a stunning, multicultural restaurant with a new name that means “butterfly” in Spanish. The concept behind Mariposa is simple: sustainable and locally-sourced ingredients transformed into delicious global cuisine.
The owner of Mariposa is Jill Marcus, a long-time restaurant operator with Johnathon Moore as lead chef. The elegant restaurant will be simple but classy, with a minimal color scheme and art done by the muralist, Owl.
The food will be multicultural and mezze-inspired, which are small, shareable dishes found in the Balkins, North Africa, and West Asia. Think Moroccan flatbreads topped with fiery-colored tomatoes, elote corn fritters topped with crema and cotija, and an Amazonica pisco sour that’s inspired by the drinks of Peru.
Mariposa will be open Tuesday – Saturday from 5pm to 10pm and the bar opens at 4pm. You can make reservations on their website, and we’d definitely recommend doing so. Mariposa is looking to be Charlotte’s hottest new spot to drink & dine.
