From Southern classics to raw bars stacked high with fresh seafood!
Love it or hate it, seafood is a mainstay of global cuisine, prepared in a million different ways, and Charlotte hasn’t any shortage of great seafood eateries to try. This month, October, the nation is paying an ode to seafood, and we’d say this is a great opportunity to try something you may have never tasted before, like shrimp, oysters, or octopus. To celebrate National Seafood Month, we’re highlighting 7 of the best seafood eateries in Charlotte you can try out this month or any time, really. Enjoy!
1. Hello, Sailor
Hello, Sailor is one of our favorite restaurants in the Cornelius area, not only because of how beautiful their aesthetic is, but also because they’ve got a delicious menu that combines the seasons and the culture. Southern-style classics cover the menu, like with their crispy North Carolina flounder and chips, but they’ve also paid homage to global food like the crispy soft shell crab bahn mi. Definitely a great way to start your seafood tour.
Where: 20210 Henderson Rd, Cornelius, NC 28031
2. The Waterman Fish Bar
Waterman is a seafood eatery that specializes in seafood done a ton of different ways, from raw bars to fish of the day to tacos and more. We’d recommend trying out their whole lobster mac and cheese, their North Carolina trout, or their classic New England Mug O’ Chowder.
Where: 2729 South Blvd suite d, Charlotte, NC 28209
3. Sea Level
Sea Level is all about sourcing their seafood straight from the North Carolina coasts whenever possible. From White Fish Caesar Salad to classic clam chowder, an east coast shrimp po’ boy and catfish reuben. Their “Oyster Happy Hour runs Mon thru Fri from 2:00pm – 6:00pm featuring $1 Sea Level Salts.”
Where: 129 E 5th St, Charlotte, NC 28202
4. Fin & Fino
For another locally, sustainably-sourced selection, head over to Fin & Fino, where you can indulge in hot, crispy furikake fries with kewpie mayo, bay scallop ceviche, or an amazing seafood platter called The Penthouse with 16 oysters, 14 nc shrimp, 16 mussels, scallop ceviche with honeydew melon, and a lobster & shrimp salad.
Where: 135 Levine Avenue of the Arts #100, Charlotte, NC 28202
5. RockSalt
Located in the back lot of the Park Rock Shopping Center is Rock Salt, serving up raw oysters, sea food towers, crab cakes, and much more. We’d also recommend checking out their brunch menu that comes with a crab cake sandwich and house smoked trout spread BLT.
Where: 512 Brandywine Rd Ste 500, Charlotte, NC 28209
6. McCormick & Schmicks
McCormick and Schmick’s has been serving up great seafood since 1974, with restaurants that span the entire nation. Start off with craft beer battered fish and chips, dig into a plate of crab and shrimp stuffed salmon, then end on a high note with a fresh round of oysters. Cheers.
