Last year, Charlotte saw the inaugural Bayhaven Food and Wine Festival, a community gathering to celebrate Black chefs and drink makers here in the city and across the country. Over 65 chefs and beverage makers participated and over 2,5000 attendees enjoyed small portions of food and drinks, a Jazz brunch, and even an outdoor BBQ. Needless to say, we’re so excited to see the 2nd annual Bayhaven Food & Wine Festival return to the city, as well as the Juneteenth Carnival happening this October.
The 3-day festival will run from October 19th-23rd with a Juneteenth Kickoff Carnival happening on June 21st. The festival itself will feature numerous intimate, multi-course chef dinners, a large tasting event and a tailgate celebration to close out the festival. Some of the amazing events you’ll get to attend are as follows
- Thursday October 20th: Zoe and Friends
Enjoy a six course and 3 cocktail pairing menu from chef Zoe Adjonyoh, author of “Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen” and Director of Women’s Leadership Programs at the James Beard Foundation as she collaborates with local female chefs in Charlotte, such as Courtney Evans of Leah & Louise.
- Wednesday October 19th: Freshman Orientation Farm Dinner
This dinner will benefit the Friends of the James Beard Award with six courses and four wine pairings from some of the city’s most prestigious chefs like Gregory Collier and Ricky Moore.
- Friday October 21st: Seafood 202 Dinner
You an enjoy a six course dinner featuring wine pairings and seafood al-fresco featuring chefs from Haymaker, the Hackney, and more.
- Saturday, October 22nd: Pep Rally Tasting Tent
Experience bites and beverages from more than 75 chefs, winemakers, and mixologists from across the country.
Once again, the festival takes place at Camp North End again. Over 100 chefs and mixologists will be participating, such as Chef Zoe and Friends
Just as last year The Bayhaven Food and Wine Festival will raise funds and provide “opportunities for Black experts in the hospitality industry: chefs, farmers, artisans, brewers, and distillers.”
The full lineup will be announced and ticket will go on sale on June 19th, and we’ll update you then. For more information, check out their website.
