Uptown has got a unique reputation in the city. On the one hand, it’s supposed to be, essentially, the downtown of Charlotte where the nightlife is vibrant and where, as the official website states, “culture and commerce meet.” But out-of-staters criticize it for is failure to meet up to their expectations of, say, a Chicago downtown, and locals would rather meet their friends in more eclectic neighborhoods like NoDa or Plaza. With the opening of these 2 nightclubs, there’s whispers of change in the Uptown area. Not to mention, Hive just opened in Uptown earlier this year. Here’s a closer look into the Uptown club Renaissance.
Starting with Hive that arrived to the city in spring. The original Raleigh-based club has opened its first location in Charlotte and is a large scale nightclub with sleek black leather couches and neon lighting. The venue fits up to 400 people and has a full bar. There are some signature drinks like The Hive, which is a patron margarita, and they also have drink towers.
As for the two newest additions, there’s Encore and XOXO. Encore is a gorgeous neon lit nightclub with full service bars, VIP booths with bottle service, a live performance stage and a DJ booth. It’s also beautiful, with a huge chandelier in the middle.
We’ll see you there this weekend.
