Horseback riding, hiking, and campouts are all happening this jam-packed weekend!
Earth Day Celebrations are in full swing this month, and starting this weekend, you can join Anne Springs Close Greenway for a weekend of family fun, April 16th-18th. Better yet, Earth Day weekend is free for members of the Greenway and only 5$ with parking for non-members.
ASCGreenway is a 2,100-acre natural preservation located in Fort Mill, South Carolina. A short drive from Charlotte, this is the perfect place to hang outdoors during the warmer months for recreational sports and activities with the family. This year, ASCGreenway are doing a lot more in-person events, but are doing so with all safety regulations in mind. The schedule for the weekend has a whole list of fun activities to do throughout the entire day, Friday through Sunday. There’s even a few events that are happening across the weekend.
For the multi-day events, try your hand at creating recycled art (recycling is s great for the planet, after all) by entering the competition. They’ve got a workshop with a master gardener sure to provide insight on how to tend a garden everyday. Guided hikes are available Saturday and Sunday and they’re also offering a chance to try Archery! And that’s just to name a few. Because the schedule changes depending on the day, you’ll want to keep an eye on their website to verify the schedule for any of the events that interest you.
Friday’s a short day, with only two schedule events: a long distance club for Hike Club Members. Saturday is when the real festivities start with an entire day of outdoorsy and green activities planned. There are two scheduled kayaking events on Saturday– from 9am-12pm or 1pm-6pm as well as canoeing at Lake Crandall from 10am-2pm. If water sports are less your thing, then you and your family could try the petting zoo, starting at 2:15, or the Donkey Meet & Greet. If you want to learn, there are a few workshop activities like Gnome house building, Horse Grooming demos, and a demo on fire starting. If you just wanted to relax, then you can come and hang out at the Earth Day campout from 3pm-10am. It’ll be hard to decide what activities to do when Saturday is that jam-packed with activities. In order not to mess anything, we recommend planning your day according to their schedule, again on the website.
On Sunday, there are two new activities to take part in: a Border Collie Demo and a Western/Rodeo Demo at 11:30, 1pm, and 2pm for the former and 9:30am for the latter. Event goers can also go hiking, attend the Birthday Party Open House, or attend the petting zoo.
Get ready to experience a jam-packed weekend in the outdoors celebrating the earth with family and our furry friends.
