With Spring showing off here in Charlotte, there’s one thing you don’t want to miss this time of year – seasonal and local produce. Farmer’s Market season started in April, so what better way to get to know a city’s regional gastronomy than to visit the city’s various farmer’s markets. Not only do they offer delicious fruits and vegetables, but farmer’s markets also give a glimpse into the wares of local artists. With all that said, here’s 7 farmer’s markets where you can get a taste of what Charlotte has to offer.
1. Matthew’s Market
20 minutes outside the city is Matthews Community Farmer’s Market located in Matthews, NC. This farmer’s market hosts up to 50 vendors, like Dancing Bees Honey Farm, Cody Strawberry Farm, and Adventures in Herbs. With a venue that hosts over 50 vendors, you’re bound to find a plethora of fresh produce to choose from for your next seasonally-prepared meal.

2. Uptown Farmer’s Market

Uptown’s mission is to engage the community with locally sourced and farm-fresh produce. They also help the community by accepting $50 donations towards providing an underprivileged family with a bag of groceries. The market, located in the heart of Uptown, is open every Saturday starting the 17th of April all the way until the last Saturday November and also offers free parking! Stop by from 8:30am to 12:30pm, rain or shine.

3. The Bulb Mobile Markets
The Bulb Mobile Markets is an awesome woman-run mobile market operating in 11 different locations in Charlotte, with a detailed schedule based on location available on their website. Their goal is to serve fresh produce to food-insecure neighborhoods, which also allows customers to pay as much as they can. They operated all throughout the pandemic and have since become a vital part of the community.
4. Davidson Farmer’s Market
Davidsons opened April 3rd and will be running through the end of the season until November 20th. Every Saturday from 9am-noon, you can stop by and shop from one of their 36 local vendors. Browse through aisles of fruit and vegetables, meat & dairy, honey, artisanal baked goods, beauty products, and more. This one is located next to Town Hall.

5. Simpson’s Produce Market
Simpsons’ Produce is Charlotte’s favorite roadside market, and they’re back in business starting April 16th. This season, they’ll be open Tuesdays 6am-5pm, Fridays 6am-7pm and Saturdays 6am-3pm. Right now, they’re sticking to their main location–the one at King’ Drive. Stop by and choose from a variety of homemade honeys, jams, fresh produce, and desserts.

6. The Village at Robinson Farm

The farmers market at Robinson Farm is open Wednesdays and Friday from 9am to 3pm, so this is the market to visit if you’re someone who likes to do their shopping for fresh veg a couple times a week. Its’ also convenient if you have a busy schedule and need more options. That’s not the only reason The Village made it on to our list. They’re also located inside a family-friendly neighborhood shopping center where you can do a little shopping for clothes or have a meal at the local restaurants once you’re finished at the market.

7. North End Market
This year, there’s going to be a farmer’s market opening up in Camp North End! This one opened on April 28th, is going to be a weekly afternoon/night market. They’ll be teaming up with local vendors to offer fresh and unique seasonal produce, artisanal foods, and select crafters. We’re really excited for this one and anticipate its opening!
